Here We Go Again! Another Train Wreck

On December 18th, during the inaugural run of the newly rerouted and faster Amtrak Cascade train  service into Seattle, the operator for reasons unknown failed to slow down from 80 miles per hour to 30 for an approaching tight curve near Olympia. Early conflicting reports of the death total first claimed 6 and later 3 passengers confirmed killed. Whenever there is a train accident the media goes crazy and often displays its appalling ignorance of rail service in the process. But train wrecks, even when there are no fatalities make breaking news because they make great visuals. Getting less media attention was the story of 12 people, 8 of them Americans who were killed by a bus crash in Mexico on December 19th.
